The extreme weather conditions that were experienced during the dispute over the Winter Olympics in Beijing affected some athletes, one of them even suffered a terrible mishap.
Temperatures in Beijing have dropped these days to -15ºC and down to -30ºC and accompanied by strong winds, which is why the International Ski Federation decided to shorten the queen test from 50 km to 30, to make the competition less demanding.
However, it was in that test that the Finnish skier Remi Lindholm suffered a mishap to his penis.
According to the Finnish medium ‘Itahleti’, at the end of the test the skier felt a very strong pain in his penis due to frostbite.
‘Unbearable pain’
“It was an unbearable pain, I just wanted to get there so they could put a hot bag on me,” the athlete told this medium in his country.
Lindholm finished in just over an hour and as soon as he did, he had to rush to the locker room.
However, according to the same medium, it is not the first time that Lindholm has suffered this problem, it already happened to him in the Ruka World Cup.
However, the same media quotes an expert urologist, who when asked about this issue, stated: “It is very difficult for the penis to freeze because it contracts a lot. It is most likely that he suffered from prostatitis. In general, the symptom is a numbness of the lower abdomen, and even of the scrotum and anus”.
In 2026, the Winter Olympic Games will return to Italy, twenty years after the Turin-2006 edition, and they will do so for an edition in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, covering a wide territory and with the aim of not holding too many new infrastructure for economic and environmental reasons.
