The Jesuits and the Mexican bishops clamor for what López Obrador does not want to do.
On the last Friday of May, President López Obrador once again reviled those who insist that he modify his security “strategy”:
“The very cretinous now, the uninformed, tell us ‘and what are you doing, why don’t you solve the problem?’ This double standard, this hypocrisy, is what bothers the most, we are facing the problem by attending to the causes”.
The Society of Jesus and the Conference of the Mexican Episcopate are added to his list.
Because “hugs are no longer enough to cover the bullets” and “a river of blood” runs in the country, the priest Javier Ávila, head of the Jesuit community in Cerocahui, Chihuhua, “respectfully” asked López Obrador for a national dialogue in which the security policy is reconsidered, which, in the opinion of the rectors of the university system of their religious order, has led to a “failed state”.
And the call of the CEM points to the same direction, whose general secretary, Ramón Castro, says that “crime has spread everywhere, disrupting the daily life of the entire society; It has taken over the streets with levels of inhuman cruelty in executions and massacres that have made our country one of the most insecure and violent in the world.
The rates of violence and structures of death have overflowed and installed themselves in our communities, disfiguring the human person and destroying the culture of peace”, so “it is time to listen to citizens, to the voices of thousands of relatives of the victims, of murdered and disappeared, to the police forces mistreated by the crime. It is time to listen to academics and researchers, to the denunciations of the media, to all political forces, civil society and religious associations…”.
Of the 107 priests assassinated in the last ten years, 16 have been in the three and a half years of the 4T.
Unfortunately, nothing indicates that the new clamor will deserve presidential attention.
Last week, regarding the murder of the two Jesuits and the guide in the Tarahumara, López Obrador harangued:
“It’s a process that takes time but we’re doing well, we’re doing well and I can even prove it with numbers, and of course we’re doing well because I have communication with people.”
The numbers, precisely, deny the president: during his administration there are more murders than those committed in the entire calderonato and in the same period a third of the total disappearances recorded for almost 60 years (1964) have been recorded.
That same Thursday he anticipated what will happen with the requests-demands of the bishops, the Jesuits and ignorant and cretinous critics:
“We are not going to change the strategy, let them continue with their smear campaign, attacking us with their sold or rented press…”.
If he has already run into the Universal Church, the president should reconsider whether it is worth despising the centennial, enlightened and stubborn Society of Jesus, one of whose priests, by the way, works as a Pope…
