President Andrés Manuel López Obrador affirmed this Monday, June 3, that Mexico is experiencing an exceptional, historic and glorious momentafter the virtual triumph of Claudia Sheinbaum in the presidential elections, and highlighted that after 200 years of history, A woman reaches the Presidency of the Republic.
In his morning press conference, in National Palacethe president mentioned that he already spoke with the former head of government to congratulate her, and highlighted that she is an intelligent woman who emerged from the university student movement.
“We already spoke yesterday, I congratulated herI am very happy because, imagine what it means to hand over the Presidency to a woman after 200 years of only men ruling Mexico, since the first federal Republic, since the first president of Mexico, Guadalupe Victoria, who was president from 1824 to 1828. “said the man from Tabasco.
“From then, until 2024, 200 years. Furthermore, the candidate with the most votes in the history of Mexico, the one who obtains the most votes of all of us who have participated or have held the position of President.”

“She is a doctor, she has a doctorate level, she is a woman with convictions who was trained in the student struggle, in the fight for democracy in Mexico,” noted the head of the Executive.
“She is a woman with a lot of experience in the art of governing, because she has already held positions. She was head of Government of Mexico City, among other positions, and above all, an honest woman, which is very important.”
Visibly moved, the President maintained that Claudia Sheinbaum’s triumph is truly a historic event.
“We are living in an exceptional, extraordinary, glorious moment, I feel happy. We are finishing our mandate, I am going to retire with great satisfaction; I will be able to say, when I hand over the band to Claudia, mission accomplished, and retire,” he highlighted. Lopez Obrador.
“And let it be clear, let it be heard well and heard far away, at the end of my term I am retiring and I will not participate in any public political activity again, nor will I attend any conference; I will not attend any academic event.”
The president reiterated that he will not attend any political event once his Presidency ends.
“It’s over, my cycle is about to end, I already consider that I helped in the transformation of the country, as millions of Mexicans have done, because I am not the only one,” he added.
I point out that it was his turn to lead a process, but the main protagonists were millions of men and women who have been fighting for some time to build a better society, a fairer, more democratic, more egalitarian Mexico,” he stated.
“I am going to finish, in less than four months that I have left, works that we are going to inaugurate. I couldn’t do it because of the ban. I still need to continue talking to people about other topics, because it is also a good time for reflection and analysis, before concluding the mandate,” López Obrador added.
“I only plan to visit states to raise the white flag on health, to fulfill the commitment to guarantee the people’s right to health, to keep health centers functioning, to leave all hospitals functioning, with doctors, with specialists, with enough medicines and gratuitous”.
The President commented that, as he has said many times, health is not a privilege, but a right of the people, just like public education.
He announced that tomorrow he will communicate with the governors from the morning conference, via video call, because the funds for the rehabilitation and modernization of 11 thousand health centers will begin to be delivered.
“And in September we are going to deliver the public health system, completely modernized and updated, with no shortage of doctors,” declared López Obrador.
The purpose is that even in the most remote places there are doctors from Monday to Sunday, and that in the hospitals there are all the specialists and that all the studies can be done and all the medications can be delivered, even the most expensive ones.
