Olympic champion, American gymnast Simone Biles has announced that she will not take part in the vault and parallel bars at the Tokyo Olympics. This was reported on Saturday, July 31, “Sport-Express“.
The US Artistic Gymnastics Federation will later announce whether Biles will compete in floor and balance beam exercises.
Previously, Biles has already refused to participate in the team and individual all-around.
On July 27, Biles unsuccessfully performed a vault in the final and left the court under the supervision of a coach. The athlete returned to the team with a bandaged leg.
In turn, CNN reported that the leader of the US women’s team, Biles, could refuse to participate in the final of the all-around team competition due to stress. It was noted that the 24-year-old athlete, presumably, did not cope with her nerves before the final with the Russians, which is why she decided not to participate further in the competition.
According to unofficial information, the athlete is now experiencing not physical, but mental problems. The athlete has long been diagnosed with attention deficit disorder and there is a therapeutic exception for drugs that neutralize the painful condition. However, in Japan, these medicines are prohibited.
The 24-year-old US athlete is a four-time Olympic champion, at the Games in Rio de Janeiro she became the best in floor exercise, vault, all-around and team all-around, and also won a bronze medal in the balance beam exercise. In addition, she is a 19-time world champion.
