Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan has claimed that the US is putting tremendous pressure on his country to recognize Israel. He said that this pressure has increased further after Arab countries, including the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Bahrain, recognized Israel. The Pakistani PM said that during the rule of Donald Trump this pressure has increased significantly. The Middle East Eye website has claimed this by quoting Imran Khan. When asked if any Muslim country has pressurized, Imran has said that there are many things that we cannot say. We have a good relationship with them. Imran said that Islamabad would never establish a relationship with the ‘Zionists’, despite the US’s immense pressure.
‘Palestine will continue to support’
Imran Khan has said that Israel will not be recognized until the decades-old Palestinian issue is settled. He made it clear that he had no ‘second thoughts’ about recognizing Israel. Imran said, “I have no other idea about recognizing Israel until the Palestinians are satisfied.” Imran Khan reiterated that Pakistan’s founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah refused to recognize Israel. He said that Islamabad will continue to support Palestine following the footsteps of Jinnah. He said that Israel has a strong influence in the US and other countries are pressing for recognition of Israel. He said the pressure is due to Israel’s deep influence in the US.
