Club América marches in the first position of the general table of the Grita México 2021 tournament of Liga MX. The team led by Santiago Solari, despite the obstacles, is in first place with 17 points in seven days.
The Eagles have had to deal with the sensitive injuries of Santiago Naveda, Leonardo Suárez and, most recently, Renato Ibarra. The cream-blue box will seek to add some more reinforcement to its squad before the transfer window closes.
In the last week there was rumor about the interest that América had shown in Jurgen Damm, a former Tigres player and current Major League Soccer (MLS) Atlanta United footballer. The fast 28-year-old winger is one of the options to round out the Coapa squad, however, given the possibility that this signing does not materialize, the Eagles already have another option. He is Leonardo Castro, striker for Independiente Medellín, from the Colombian first division.
The 29-year-old forward, originally from Tambo, Colombia, serves as a center forward. According to information from the coffee portal El Deportivo, the Eagles would be interested in signing the nine from Independiente Medellín. Leonardo Fabio Castro has played with the Deportivo Pereira shirts and the People’s Team, with the latter he was crowned champion in the 2016 Apertura tournament and raised a couple of Colombian cups.
For this season, America has incorporated low-profile players such as Salvador Reyes, Fernando Madrigal and Mario Osuna, in addition to the return of Miguel Layún. The signing of Leo Castro would go in the same mood. According to the Transfermarkt portal, Castro is valued at 500 thousand euros. Last season, in 17 games, he scored one goal and gave three assists. Will America incorporate him into their ranks?
