A prediction from the CTO of AMD.
Get PS5 or Xbox Series X / S will continue to be very difficult throughout 2022. This has been stated by Mark Papermaster, AMD’s director of technology, who joined other earlier warnings from Intel or TSMC and ensures that the shortage of chips – and in particular, that for AMD chips – will continue throughout the next year.
This shortage will affect the supply and demand for next generation consoles, but also for their graphics cards. The end of the tunnel is in 2023, says the manager, who points out that “this is the time when we expect a normal balance between supply and demand“.
AMD is another major victim of this chip shortage, and the manufacturer can’t keep up with demand. This is a big problem, especially because in addition to offering the latest generation processors or graphics cards, AMD takes care of making CPUs and GPUs for both Xbox Series S / X and PS5.
Intel had previously said it didn’t expect an improvement until 2023, and both TSMC and NVIDIA joined in that prediction that pointed to a tough 2021 and 2022. The light at the end of the tunnel should therefore begin to show in two years.
