AMD has released its update AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 24.9.1. This new update introduces a series of significant improvements, among which the long-awaited debut of AMD Fluid Motion Frames (AFMF) 2 on Radeon graphics cards. It is in fact AMD’s new frame generation technology designed to optimize the performance and fluidity of games.
AFMF 2 represents a significant step forward compared to the previous version. Thanks to AI-based optimization, the technology is able to generate frames more efficiently, improving the fluidity of gameplay, especially in the most frenetic and action-packed scenes. AFMF 2 then integrates seamlessly with AMD HYPR-RX, the “one-click” solution that automatically enables AMD technologies at both the driver and in-game levels, offering an optimized gaming experience with minimal effort.
AFMF 2 compatibility has been expanded to include more games and hardware configurations. The technology is now supported by AMD Radeon RX 6000 and 7000 graphics cards, AMD Ryzen processors with Radeon integrated graphics based on RDNA 3 architecture, and Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 equipped laptops.
Additionally, AFMF 2 extends its support to Vulkan and OpenGL API-based games, ensuring a smooth gaming experience across a wide range of titles. Interoperability with AMD Radeon Chill allows you to activate low-latency frame capping, preventing screen tearing and ensuring a smooth, artifact-free gaming experience.
Adrenalin 24.9.1 also expands support for HYPR-Tune, the feature that automatically optimizes game settings such as AMD FSR and Radeon Anti-Lag 2. Titles added to the HYPR-Tuned games list include Black Myth: Wukong, Creatures of Ava, Frostpunk 2 and God of War Ragnarök, with support for AMD FSR 3.
The update also introduces Geometric Downscaling, a new feature that improves video playback quality by reducing visual artifacts in resized windows.
