Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov warned the “sponsors of the Kiev regime” against the supply of weapons and sending mercenaries to Ukraine, which became known on Tuesday, March 22.
“Now, in the pursuit of financial gain, the companies of the military-industrial complex have completely lost their moral guidelines and are ready to earn “on blood”. We call on the sponsors of the Kiev regime to stop encouraging bloodshed in Ukraine and seriously think about the consequences of their activities, ”the diplomat quotes Telegram channel Russian embassy in Washington.
Antonov spoke about the threat of Western arms supplies: the further spread of equipment and the emergence of risks of its use in the interests of attackers. He recalled a similar case from the 1980s, when American portable anti-aircraft missile systems were “caught” in the territories of the Near and Middle East, as the weapons fell on the Afghan Mujahideen.
According to the diplomat, the pumping of the Kiev regime with weapons and the delivery of foreign mercenaries to Ukraine are “irresponsible”, since the militarization of Ukraine directly threatens European and global security, she clarified “Newspaper.ru“.
In February, Aleksey Polishchuk, director of the second department of the CIS countries of the Russian Foreign Ministry, noted that the supply of weapons to Ukraine and NATO exercises had a negative impact on the settlement of the conflict in Donbass. He noted that the country is being “pumped up with weapons” very quickly, and mentioned the supply of weapons, the sending of military advisers and instructors to the country.
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, in turn, stressed that Ukraine is “stuffed” with NATO weapons, and the number of Western instructors has increased many times in recent months.
On February 24, Russia launched a special operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass. As the press secretary of the head of state Dmitry Peskov clarified, the special operation has two goals – the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine.
In mid-February, due to the aggravation of the situation in the Donbass as a result of shelling by the Ukrainian military, the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics asked for recognition of their independence and announced the evacuation of the civilian population to Russia. On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a corresponding decree.
