Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov, answering a question from Newsweek, explained the purpose of the West’s accusations against Russia because of the allegedly impending “invasion” of Ukraine. He stressed that such statements are blasphemous and unfounded. The words of the diplomat are given in the account of the Russian embassy in Facebook.
The head of the diplomatic mission pointed out that Western media reports of provocations are lies and are part of the information war against Russia. Moscow, in turn, is not going to attack anyone and hopes to build good neighborly relations with the fraternal Ukrainian people.
For several months now, Washington has been disturbing the whole world with statements that Ukraine is about to become a victim of “Russian aggression”. However, bad luck came out, since there is no attack. Apparently, therefore, for greater persuasiveness, “leaks” of some intelligence data with blasphemous and unfounded accusations were used
On Feb. 4, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said the United States had warned Ukraine in advance of a provocation scenario that Washington said Russia was planning to organize to get a pretext for a military invasion.

Earlier, The New York Times and The Washington Post reported that, according to American intelligence, Russia intends to release a fake video showing alleged Ukrainian provocations on Russian territory or against the Russian-speaking population in eastern Ukraine.
Pentagon spokesman John Kirby confirmed the information about the alleged provocation with “a propaganda video that would have depicted corpses and actors playing the role of mourners, destroyed buildings, as well as military equipment that Ukraine or the West has.”
Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that this was not the first time such materials were published in the United States, but nothing followed. “This is not the first such promise. Similar has been said before as well. But nothing came of it,” the official representative of the Kremlin recalled.
An attempt to compromise Russia
Antonov said that the US is trying to compromise Russia and “throw dirt” in the hope that “something will stick.” He added that the price of such “compromising evidence” of the American intelligence services is known. He noted that they were “strongly disgraced” and cited as an example a vial of white powder handed over to the United States Secretary of State to justify the invasion of Iraq.
The ambassador urged the United States “not to play a scene for the gullible” and suggested that the allegations of alleged Russian “false flag” operations are intended to justify Ukraine’s possible provocations against Donbass.
One gets the feeling that American PR people, in an effort to compromise Russia, are acting on the principle of “throw as much dirt as possible, maybe something will stick.” Essays on the subject of Russian operations “under a false flag” seem to be aimed at constructing an alibi for possible UAF operations against Donbass.
On February 4, the Russian embassy in the United States assessed the American scenario about the Russian Federation allegedly preparing an operation against Ukraine for the subsequent “invasion” and stated that it was not surprised by what was happening.
The diplomatic department once again recalled how in 2003, the US Secretary of State, Colin Powell, at a meeting of the UN Security Council, demonstrated a test tube with white powder, saying that it contained anthrax spores. Powell claimed to have received information about Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein’s alleged bioweapon technology.
Earlier it was also reported that the head of the press service of the US State Department, Ned Price, refused to provide evidence of Russia’s “fabrication” of the video as a pretext for the “invasion” of Ukraine.

Russia is concerned about the position of the United States on the situation around Ukraine
Antonov said that Moscow is concerned about Washington’s position on the situation around Ukraine. He recalled that the presidents of Russia and the United States, Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden, agreed at the talks in Geneva that the Minsk agreements are the basis for resolving the crisis. According to the ambassador, the common task is to force Kiev to fulfill its obligations and negotiate peacefully with representatives of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR).
We consider the current American actions to pump weapons to Ukraine erroneous and extremely dangerous. Thus, the United States is condoning the nationalist group in Kiev, which is doing everything to turn the Russian-speaking population into a persecuted minority in an ethnocratic state.
On February 3, Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov announced the arrival of the seventh plane with weapons from the United States. The aircraft landed at the Borispol airport and delivered 85 tons of ammunition for grenade launchers.
Prior to this, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense announced the arrival of 45 aircraft with American weapons worth a total of $200 million.
In recent months, statements have been made in Kiev and in the West about the threat of a Russian invasion. Moscow categorically denies such accusations. Against this background, the United Kingdom supplied Ukraine with several thousand light anti-tank missiles. Canada has decided to provide $268 million, and Poland has decided to provide Piorun man-portable air defense systems. The Netherlands intends to take part in a program to build 48 modern hospitals and rehabilitation centers for Ukrainian servicemen.
