Some players have reported some ‘crafty ones’ who escaped with the loot.
Be careful with who you ally: this is the warning we can give you due to some rather unpleasant reports from Reddit regarding the phenomenon New World. Amazon’s MMORPG, available on PC, is a great success and has been able to attract many players, from fans of the genre to newbies.
The game implements a system of companies, the classic Guilds, which can be founded by anyone and where anyone can be invited. Naturally, within the game, gold plays a fairly important role and this is especially true for the companies: the latter can indeed claim an unoccupied territory investing a certain amount of gold, which can be “donated” to the group by each member (the game currency cannot be purchased with real money).
The problem that emerged is the fact that the governor, ie the founder, of the group is in charge of managing this sum of money. Well, some players have reported that they have joined companies where the boss, after receiving some nice sums, has simply decided to transfer the gold to one’s personal inventory and then dissolve the team and flee, sometimes allying itself with an opposing Faction.
It is not clear whether or not this action was foreseen by the developers, but even quite large groups of players found themselves “abandoned” after trusting a Company and donating their hard-earned adventurer savings.
