Alfonso Torres shows his gastronomic and entertainment offer at the inauguration of the Dock complex to more than 1,400 guests
Walking between the tables of the Levante brewery, the terrace and the Espacio Alviento nightclub was difficult last night. A large part of the more than 1,400 guests at the inauguration of this gastronomic center designed by the businessman Alfonso Torres in the Dock, already packed the rooms of what is called to be a benchmark of local and regional leisure. Meanwhile, many others queued at the four entrances to the building, where groups of hostesses were busy checking the invitations and placing the bracelets that gave them the right to move around the entire premises.
The great social and business event of the year for many began with a demonstration of gastronomy that customers will be able to taste in the premises starting tomorrow. The waiters, with large trays of food and drinks, did not stop entering and leaving the three kitchens and the five bars with which the hotel complex is equipped. Each of the dishes was created and supervised by Joaquín Gabarró executive chef of Alviento, former head chef of the restaurant of the mediatic chef Jordi Cruz, ABAC (three Michelin stars).
Noelia Arroyo: “From today we will have visitors who come expressly to this center, a benchmark for regional and national leisure”
The night was enlivened by the warm, deep and heartbreaking voice of the singer Dora Helena, through original compositions and great hits of Spanish and international music, such as Tina Turner. The Murcian composer, producer and singer Hoonine (Carmen Alarcón) also showed her talent, with her own songs from her latest work ‘Roca Roja’. The first was on the Terraza Alviento stage and the second, at the Puerto Trips nightclub. In this, precisely, the unionense group El Sitio de mi Garage also performed after eleven o’clock at night, performing their latest songs. She also acted an aerial dancer.
López Miras: “With this project, Cartagena reinforces the strategic nature of the tourism sector in the Region”
“I hope it serves as a revulsive”
Around ten o’clock at night, and when the heat of the day had subsided, the official opening ceremony was held in which Alfonso Torres intervened to thank all the guests for attending. Briefly and sincerely, he wished that everyone would have a good time and thanked the Autonomous Community, the City Council and the Port Authority for their support shown in the project, which he hopes will serve as a catalyst for the port’s leisure area. Espacio Alviento is the first link in a great project to turn the Alfonso XII Pier into a reference center for Cartagena, tourists and visitors. To this will contribute the repair of the entire maritime façade, which is underway by the port agency, and the transformation of the former headquarters of the Cartagena Chamber of Commerce, into a restaurant and an events venue. Behind this initiative is the business group Zamora Company and the chef with two Michelin stars Pablo González-Conejero. His intention is that it be underway throughout 2023.
in full transformation
After Alfonso Torres, the mayor of Cartagena, Noelia Arroyo, intervened to extol the figure of the businessman and say that “Alviento opens in a port that is in full transformation, to become a reference for regional and national leisure.” She explained that there are those who come to Cartagena to see museums, to enjoy festivals and monuments, but, she assured, “from now on we will have visitors who will come expressly to this complex.”
The act was concluded by the president of the Autonomous Community, Fernando López Miras. “With Alviento, this gateway to the city of Cartagena through its port becomes more attractive. And, of course, it reinforces the strategic nature of the tourism sector for Spain and for the Region of Murcia », he said. The Minister of the Presidency, Marcos Ortuño, and the President of the Port, Yolanda Muñoz, were also present.
For this moment, the Port Authority of Cartagena cleared from the surroundings of the building all the machinery and remains of the works carried out on the esplanade, except for the security fences.
The hotel center already hosts events this weekend
To encourage customers to come to know and, above all, to enjoy the different spaces of the Alviento hotel complex, the promoter of the project, Alfonso Torres, and his team have already prepared events for today, tomorrow and the day after. The first will be tonight at 11 pm in the disco, where the group Cuatrogatos will play live songs from the eighties. The party will continue with DJ Ralph. On Saturday, in the same area, Raúl Marttin and Adri V will play discs. And on Sunday, the offer will focus on enjoying the sunset at the Terraza Club, located on the first floor, with a music session by José Rives. The intention of the owner is that every weekend there are events of these characteristics, where live music concerts of emerging local and regional groups predominate.
