On October 15, 2016, in Altsasu, Navarrea town of 8,000 inhabitants, a bar fight became a case of terrorism thanks to a climate of judicial, political and media hysteria. The fact that those attacked were civil guards, off duty, set off alarms: “ETA was returning” despite having announced in 2011 the definitive cessation of its armed activity. As a result of all this, eight young people from Altsasu were accused of terrorism, facing requests for between 12 and 62 years in prison.
The events have inspired the montage “Altsasu” of The Wandering Dramaa work that this Sunday can be seen in Miereswithin the cycle Resistance Boxand on Friday the 15th in the Niemeyer.
Finalist at the Max Awards for best theatrical show, “Altsasu” explores an area of gray in times when black or white is required, without further nuances.
The work, written and directed by Maria Goiricelayawas boycotted by Voxwho tried to prevent its representation with a concentration on Madrid to the cry of “Civil Guard, take out your rifle!”.
