Points on one side, knockouts on the other
If on the one hand theAlpine can be satisfied with the results achieved with Pierre Gasly in the United States Grand Prix, on the other hand there is great regret for the almost immediate withdrawal of Esteban Ocon, author of a contact at the start with his ex’s McLaren Oscar Piastri. The two, side by side in the rapid sequence of turns 3-4-5, were unable to avoid a collision which was not serious but enough to damage the bottom of the car, with the Frenchman having to raise the white flag almost immediately. The situation of the Australian was no different, as he managed to complete another 9 laps before giving up due to a breakdown caused by the impact.
Another unlucky GP
Ocon, who started from the eighth spot on the starting grid, thus lost the opportunity to finish the race in the points, thus venting all his bitterness: “It was a very unfortunate Sunday for us in Austin – commented – it seems like there have been quite a few this year, and this cost us a lot. It’s a shame, because we had a good starting position for today’s race and once again we made up some positions with a strong launch and a good initial turn. Unfortunately, there was contact with Oscar and the damage to our fund was too severe to continue. There are some positives to take from our weekend, but also many things to review. Mexico City is around the corner and I know we will bounce back as a team.”
This Lap 1 contact made Oscar Piastri and Esteban Ocon to retire.

Great satisfaction for Gasly
A completely different story for teammate and compatriot Pierre Gasly, who started from seventh position and still did well to finish in 8th place, thus reaching the points zone. However, as happened to most of the drivers who reached the finish line, the former AlphaTauri then found himself in sixth position a few hours after the end of the race, thanks to the disqualification imposed on Hamilton and Leclerc due to the uneven surface of their cars: “I am very satisfied with today’s result and, I must say, probably it was our most complete weekend of the season so farwith two excellent results in qualifying and points in both races – commented – we fell back a couple of places at the start, but I knew the pace of the car was good and we managed to keep it clean and fight to move forward. Of course we want to fight close to the leaders, but this weekend was definitely better for us and we managed to get the most out of it. From an operational point of view everything went smoothly and this is it a source of great satisfaction for all of us on the team. Now our focus is on Mexico City and putting together another solid weekend.”
