Alonso stings Ferrari
Fernando Alonso continues to provoke Ferrari. After the words in yesterday’s team radio against Charles Leclerc (accused of not looking at the mirrors), the Spaniard repeated himself after qualifying in Montreal, finishing in sixth place.
The Aston Martin driver, unlike the two Ferraris, qualified for Q3 and to the media he “rebuked” the Scuderia for having celebrated the victory in Monte-Carlo too much.
Alonso’s words
“We’re dealing with smart people, aren’t we? We are ahead of Perez and ahead of the two Ferraris, who had won the World Championship in Monte-Carlo“, this is the irony of the two-time world champion. “We will do our best, but we still have a long way to go. These two tenths of today (such was the gap from pole position, ed.) they hurt a little more“.
“It was a difficult qualifying, because we made a lot of changes compared to FP3, we risked something with the set-up, and it was tough because it rained, then it stopped, and you never knew the track conditions. The margins were so small that by a tenth you could be out of Q1 or Q2, and then by Q3 everything could change again“, he concluded. “I’m happy with the result, after the last few races in which we regularly started from behind, but seeing myself two tenths from pole and seeing how the car was going in this session, I think we would have been close if everything had gone right. For tomorrow we will try to have a race without errors, it could rain at any moment. We will have to be careful about which tires to fit at all times, get a good start and see how it goes“.
