The reduction of the maximum number of spectators in stadiums to 75% and in pavilions to 50%, will hardly affect the teams of the Region
The limitations return to stadiums and pavilions. After three months of absolute freedom in terms of public access to sporting events in Spain, the restrictions are back in the face of the explosion of coronavirus infections. The Ministry of Health has agreed this Wednesday that the proposal of the interterritorial council is that the capacity is restricted to a maximum of 75% in the stadiums and 50% in the pavilions. From here, each Community will decide if it is even more restrictive or not and can determine that the percentage of the public allowed is lower. In this sense, the Basque government has already announced that it would set its threshold at 50% for stadiums. In the case of the government of the Region of Murcia, the decision is to apply 75% to the stadiums and 50% to the pavilions, as THE TRUTH learned. The measure will be in effect from January 1 to January 31, when it will be reviewed again.
In this way, at FC Cartagena they breathe calmly, since the maximum capacity allowed in the stadium from now on will be 9,900 spectators, something that will not affect in any way the awaiting Copa del Rey match on Wednesday that comes against him Valencia. The Albinegro club has sold some 4,500 tickets and, due to the coincidence with the Three Kings parade that will tour the streets of Cartagena at the same time of the meeting, the forecast is that there will not be more than 9,000 people in the Cartagonova on that historic afternoon cup.
In this sense, the board chaired by Paco Belmonte is in talks with the Spanish Federation and the television platform DAZN, holder of the audiovisual rights of the Copa del Rey, to bring the start of Cartagena to 4:00 p.m. or delay the start of Cartagena at 8:00 p.m. -Valencia. The absolute priority of Efesé and the City of Cartagena is that the game and the parade do not coincide. But it all depends on the decision of the Federation and DAZN.
As for the rest of the teams in the Region, this reduction of the stadium capacity to 75% does not affect at all, since neither Real Murcia nor UCAM cover 30% of the total capacity of their stadiums in their league matches. There will be no problems for Águilas or Mar Menor either. In futsal, Jimbee and ElPozo, will not be harmed by the 50% cut in capacity, since neither exceeds 1,000 spectators on average in their home games. And the UCAM CB of basketball, which until now had a 75% maximum capacity, may have to leave fans out of the Palace in the games against Burgos (January 15) and Breogán (January 30).
