More than 6,000 million euros. This will be the budget that Madrid City Council will have in 2025 to promote some of the legislature’s major infrastructure works, expand the housing stock and reinforce social spending. What promises to be the “most investing” budget of the last 16 years will be presented this Thursday by the mayor of the city, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, and the head of Economy, Innovation and Finance, Engracia Hidalgo, after its initial approval in the Governing Board.
In the field of infrastructure, these accounts will make it possible to promote some of the major commitments of the Almeida Government team in the legislature, such as the burying of the A-5, whose works have already begun, the final section of Paseo de La Castellana or the coverage of the M-30 at the height of Ventas.
The budget for 2025 will also allow progress in urban developments in the southeast of the capital, Madrid Nuevo Norte, or in the consolidation of the EMVS as the main promoter of public housing in Spain. All of this, with a total of 1,130 million euros allocated to social spending that will serve to guarantee the quality of public services provided to citizens.
The accounts for next year They will also include a new reduction in the rate of the Real Estate Tax (IBI), which will mean a saving of 31 million euros for Madrid taxpayers. Although, they will have to face the payment of the new garbage rate, which will amount to 141 euros per year on average.
The focus on housing
In the field of housing, among other actions, the works on 11 developments will be completed, with a total of 865 properties. Specifically, the completion of the works on Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles 3 is planned; Cañaveral 7, Cañaveral 8, Cañaveral 9, Cañaveral 10, Cañaveral 11, Cañaveral 12, Cañaveral 13; Los Olivos 3, Los Olivos 4 and Vallecas 62.
All of this, together with actions such as the ReViVa Program or the We Buy Your Home, will allow the José Luis Martínez-Almeida City Council reach a heritage of 10,000 homes by the end of 2025which will be used for affordable rental.
Likewise, in 2025, EMVS Madrid will continue with the works and the tendering of works and projects for more than twenty developments, which will mean putting 3,100 more homes on the table. We must also add the Suma Vivienda Plan, with more than 1,600 homes in its first phase and the tender for the second phase, with 600 additional homes.
But in addition to building affordable housing, the Almeida City Council will continue to promote rehabilitation so that Madrid continues to be “the city that most rehabilitates in Spain.” In this way, the plans that make up the Transform Madrid Strategy will continue to be promoted, such as the Adapta Plan, the Rehabilita Plan and the Transform Your Neighborhood Plan. According to data from the City Council, thanks to the aid from these Plans, in the last 5 years, 100,000 homes have been rehabilitated, thus benefiting 217,000 people.
Neighborhood regeneration
In 2025, the Almeida Executive will also focus on the regeneration of neighborhoods.
