El Paso—A 17-year-old Horizon City man faces multiple charges, including murder, after a chase in the early hours of Friday, October 4, with Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers, which led to a multiple crash in Upper Valley, El Paso, the corporation reported. The driver – whose identity and photos have not been revealed – and five migrants who were inside the car were treated at an area hospital for minor injuries. The woman driving the second vehicle died at UMC. Authorities have not yet revealed his identity, as they are waiting to notify his next of kin. At approximately 8:00 a.m. on the 4th, the Texas Highway Patrol, assisted by DPS special agents, attempted to stop a vehicle on Artcraft Road. According to DPS, the vehicle was going to be stopped for an equipment violation and being involved in a possible human trafficking incident. The driver briefly fled, ran a red light, sideswiped two other vehicles and then collided with another vehicle at Artcraft and Upper Valley Road as the trooper approached the vehicle, according to DPS. “The 17-year-old Horizon City man, who was driving the red Charger, will be charged with murder, human trafficking and evading arrest with a vehicle,” a Texas DPS spokesperson explained.
