Here comes the Alitalia ticket saving fund. After a month of negotiations with Brussels, the government has found the solution which, on the one hand, ensures the take-off of Ita, expected after the summer, and on the other it allows those who bought the tickets of the old Italian company to feel comfortable when the changeover takes place between the two vectors. He writes it The messenger adding that no one will remain on the ground and all travelers will be re-protected because the 100 million euro fund developed by the executive and inserted in a decree ad hoc will serve as a parachute.
The money allocated will make it possible to obtain a refund of the ticket in the event that Alitalia has ceased operations or to have a voucher for the same destination with a different company. One way to on the one hand, avoiding the blocking of bookings in progress, a lifeblood for Alitalia accounts, and on the other hand to guarantee a clear discontinuity between the two companies in Brussels.
It is not certain that all 100 million will be used, but the executive wanted to take precautions precisely to protect travelers and have ample room for maneuver on the hot front of the so-called tickets issued but not yet used by buyers. According to ministerial sources, this is a decisive step overall puzzle to start Ita.
A move that should allow the EU Commission to give the last green light to the operation. Probably – they hope at Palazzo Chigi – at today’s summit between the Minister of Economy Daniele Franco, that of the Mise Giancarlo Giorgetti and the Commissioner for Competition Margrethe Vestager. The knot of tickets and that of the connected discontinuity was in fact the last obstacle to overcome in the negotiations with Brussels.
The decree should also find space there extension of the 400 million bridging loan until December. More financial oxygen to avoid nasty surprises will come with the refinancing of the Flight Fund to manage Cig and early retirement. On the other hand, the scheme already approved by Europe remains unchanged, which provides for the transfer of the flight branch to Ita by direct negotiation, obviously together with the Italian flag.
