Alien, the franchise founded by Ridley Scott, was a milestone in science fiction history. Not for nothing does the film saga have a total of six main installments and FX is developing a miniseries by Noah Hawley.
In an interview for Vanity Fair, the showrunner, who has already written the first two scripts, announced that the filming of the series could begin in spring 2022. In addition, he assured that the plot will have nothing to do with Ellen ripley (Sigourney Weaver).
“It’s not the Ripley story. He is one of the best characters of all time, I think the story has been told perfectly, and I don’t want to spoil it, “he told the specialized media.
Regarding the plot, Noah Hawley explained that the events will take place on Earth: “Alien stories always trap, whether in a prison or spaceship. I thought it would be interesting to open up a bit for the challenges of ‘what if you can’t contain it?’ be more immediate ”.
Also, if the show focused on the people who were sent to do the dirty work, it would also show the responsible people. “We will see what happens when the inequality that we suffer now is not resolved,” he adds.
Earlier, Hawley told the Observer that his version of Alien would be the opposite of Star Trek with humanity at its worst. This was his reflection on what we would see on the small screen:
“There’s a moment in the second movie when Sigourney says, ‘I don’t know which species is worse. At least they don’t betray each other by a percentage. ‘ If you look at what Aliens tend to be, it is generally a trapped story (…) because the Alien has this life cycle that becomes a certain routine ”.
