CAF opened the door for candidacy to host the 2025 African Nations instead of Guinea, for Morocco to compete with Algeria in order to win the honor of organizing.
The Moroccan newspaper “Al-Mukhtab” confirmed that the Football Association had obtained the approval of the authorities to submit a file to organize the tournament.
The Algerian newspaper “Al-Shorouk” confirmed obtaining the approval of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune in order to submit a file to organize the African competition after 3 years.
Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Patrice Motsepe said in an official press conference for CAF that nominations are open to all African countries to organize the tournament.
For his part, the Cameroonian journalist specialized in African football, Giovanni Wannie, said in an interview with “Sky News Arabia” that the 2025 tournament will be the most interesting.
Giovanni added: “The CAF deserves thanks for its bold decision, it saw the danger from afar and avoided it.
“The 2025 tournament will be between Algeria or Morocco. There is a strong balanced competition between the two countries. Morocco recently proved to be a good cover for CAF after hosting the African Champions League and African Nations Women’s Final, and they proved that they are very efficient hosts, which is a wonderful thing that supports them.”
Ouaneh continued: “Morocco has many wonderful stadiums, such as Mohammed V Stadium, Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, Marrakesh Stadium, Fez Sports Complex and others.”
Regarding Algeria, Giovanni said: “What applies to Morocco applies to Algeria, which is preparing to host the African Nations for Locals 2023, and according to my sources in CAF, Algeria has a giant chance to win the organization.”
The Cameroonian journalist concluded: “The new Oran stadium, Tizi Ouzou Stadium, July 5 Stadium, Annaba Stadium and others will support the Algerian file, especially since most of them are currently undergoing renewal. In any case, we will see the most enjoyable version of the Nations Cup, whether it is in Algeria or Morocco.”
