L’Alfa Romeo F1 Team Orlen went against the trend compared to the other teams and chose to present its car between the two tests in Barcelona and Bahrain, placing the unveiling of its livery Sunday 27 February. It was made official by the Swiss team with a press release, which simultaneously confirms that the car will be called C42. The new car will be shown to enthusiasts and fans through digital images and videos at 9.00 am. The launch will be followed by traditional press conferences attended by team principal Frederic Vasseur, technical director Jan Monchaux and the three drivers of the team, namely Valtteri Bottas, Guanyu Zhou and reserve Robert Kubica.
For the Swiss team, the aerodynamic revolution scheduled for 2022 will be a great opportunity to try to emerge from the rear. There are two main moves that will characterize the team based in Hinwil, Switzerland in 2022, namely greater independence from Ferrari, both technically and in terms of the choice of drivers, and renewal at the wheel. In fact, Kimi Raikkonen retired at the end of last season and Antonio Giovinazzi was sacked to make room for Chinese rookie Guanyu Zhou, considered by the team to be the best compromise between talent and sponsorships. Alongside him there will be an important name, that of Valtteri Bottas, who arrived after five seasons in Mercedes in which he managed to score 10 victories and 20 pole positions.
