The Movistar Team, the Murcian cyclist’s team, prevents his participation as a precautionary measure in the face of the cases of coronavirus registered among his teammates
The Murcian cyclist Alejandro Valverde will not be able to say goodbye to the Tour of the Region of Murcia in his last season as a professional. This was announced by his team, the Movistar Team, and himself on social media. The reason is, as indicated by the blue squad, to protect the runner after the coronavirus infections registered among his teammates a few days ago in the Vuelta a la Comunidad Valenciana.
‘El Bala’ will not be able to participate in the Clásica Jaén Paraíso Interior that takes place in the Andalusian town. “I am very sorry for not being able to say goodbye to the home race properly, but all precaution is too little right now,” said Valverde after learning of the decision made by his team, the Movistar Team.
The 42nd Vuelta Ciclista a la Región de Murcia takes place this Saturday, February 12, with a route of 183.2 kilometers that will go from Fortuna, where the start will take place, and Cartagena, where the finish line will be established. The event will be broadcast for the first time by three television channels: Eurosport, regional television 7TV and RTVE’s Teledeporte channel.
