ISTANBUL. The number of airlines that will ground their Boeing 737s for up to 9 years is growing the Alaska Airlines crash. The Turkish company Turkish Airlines announced that it will ground its five aircraft. «Following the accident that occurred on the Boeing 737 Max 9 aircraft of theAlaska Airlines, five Boeing 737 Max 9s from the Thy fleet have been recalled for inspection as a precautionary measure,” the company indicates on its website. The five planes “will be removed from the operational fleet where they land” and will be inspected before the resumption of flights, it adds. Yesterday the American agency (FAA) also ordered the immediate inspection of 171 Boeing 737 Max 9 planes, which remained on the ground after the accident.

The companies made the same decision Copa Airlines of Panama and Aeromexico: in a press release Copa Airlines specified that the provision concerns 21 aircraft which “will remain at the airport until the necessary technical overhaul checks are completed”. For its part, Aeroméxico announced that it has placed a similar measure for its Boeing 737 Max planes which will be “inspected as a precautionary measure”. The aircraft of this model, the Mexican company indicated, will remain out of service until further notice. «The inspection will be concluded as soon as possible to continue with the scheduled operations, working in coordination with Boeing, as well as with the competent authorities», Aeroméxico says. The FAA directive requires operators (airlines) to “inspect the aircraft before a new flight,” the agency said.
