Remedy predicts Alan Wake 2 will achieve excellent long-term sales, but for investors, the sales figures so far have been an obvious disappointment.
Gaming company Remedy said with a stock exchange release published on Friday that October Alan Wake 2 – game has sold 1.3 million copies by the beginning of February 2024.
It is Remedy's fastest-selling game to date, the company says in a stock exchange release.
Investors the published sales figures did not inspire.
The course of Remedy, which lost more than 28 percent of its value in four weeks, was in a clear downward direction on Friday morning.
Remedy the previous successful game, Control, released in 2019, has sold four million copies. Its distributable turnover is around one hundred million euros, the company compares. Taxes and regional costs have been deducted from the figure.
Remedy says it also expects Alan Wake 2 to achieve excellent long-term sales.
“We will continue to market and support Alan Wake 2, and we will create two paid add-ons that will expand the story of the game,” the company says in a press release.
Remedy managing director Tero Virtalan according to the game has already covered a significant part of the development and marketing costs.
“In the future, growing and expanding the Control and Alan Wake game brands will play a key role in the company,” says Virtala in the press release.
Alan Wake 2 is a sequel to the Alan Wake horror game released by Remedy 13 years ago.
It is estimated that the development of the game cost 50 million euros and its marketing 20 million euros.
