Not a disappointing defeat
The 2nd place it cannot be an element of satisfaction in sport in general, except in some cases in which this position can have positive implications. An example can be seen at the end of fourth stage of the Dakar in Yazeed Al Rajhipilot of the Toyota who does not experience this placement with great disappointment, on the contrary.
Still in my head
While on the one hand there is still a small regret for not having obtained the best time, despite being late just over a minute behind winner Sébastien Loebon the other hand there is the satisfaction of being able to maintain the leadership of the general classification. The #201, who also plays at home in his Saudi Arabia in this edition, had in fact risen to the top of the rankings already after Stage 3, outclassing Carlos Sainz and reconfirming himself ahead of the Spaniard with a gap of almost 5 minutes.
Consistent results
Al Rajhi has not yet won a stage since the start of this edition, but the consistency of his results (as demonstrated by his always top-10 placings) have led him to lead the classification with his Toyota, taking advantage of the missteps of the more direct rivals at the wheel of Audi and, above all, Prodrive, even if the British company is slowly recovering from the initial difficulties.
A slow puncture
Regarding the stage from Al Samamiya to Al Hofuf, the Saudi driver commented on his performance as follows, which was not without some problems: “After 50 or 60 kilometers we took the lead and made our way forward, but it wasn't easy – has explained – we punctured slowly before 150-180km. As we went further, the tire pressure began to decrease and the rear part of the car she sagged until she reached 1.4 bar at the finish line, but that's okay. Luckily we managed to slow down in the last 100 kilometres, but everything is going well. I'm always ready for the wilderness, 24/7“.
