The Minister of Health and Community Protection, Abdul Rahman bin Muhammad Al Owais, confirmed that the humanitarian support of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State for global efforts to combat polio, and the generous funding it provides, was effective and influential in reducing the number of cases in the world.
Pointing to the keenness of His Highness the President of the State to strengthen vaccination campaigns and ensure that vaccines reach millions of children, so that they can enjoy a healthy life through continuous efforts of the World Health Organization’s plans to eradicate polio.
In a statement on the occasion of World Polio Day, which falls on October 24 of each year, His Excellency said: “The wise leadership of the country has given the national program for polio eradication the utmost importance in the national health programmes, and the Ministry of Health and Prevention is still continuing its efforts in cooperation with government health agencies and partners. To maintain this achievement by establishing a proactive and sustainable health system that enhances the health of the community.”
In this context, His Excellency Al Owais drew attention to the adoption by the World Health Assembly for the first time in its history of a draft resolution to enhance the quality of healthy life led by the United Arab Emirates, an achievement that reflects the global position of the Emirates as an influential and effective country with global strategic weight. The quality of life of citizens and residents, including the quality of healthy life, is a top strategic priority to enhance its position to be the happiest country in the world.
