PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi gave an interview to the newspaper Brand in which he did not stop talking about various topics, but the one that aroused the most interest was the renewal of Mbappé. Al Khelaifi explained that last year “I turned down 180 million last summer from Real Madrid because I knew that Kylian wanted to stay at PSG. I know him very well, I know what he and his family want, and they don’t move for money. He has chosen play here for his city, his club and his country, and for the sports project. He only thinks about playing and winning”.
The leader of the Parisian team thus denied what Florentino Pérez had commented on in several interviews, and that is that the player was looking forward to playing for Real Madrid. But Al Khelaifi did not stop there and was especially hard on Tebas, President of LaLiga.
Tebas and his team announced a lawsuit against PSG for exceeding the economic limits that UEFA imposes to control teams and ensure fair competition, but the President of PSG was calm. “What we do, we do it because we know it’s possible. It’s not our style to talk about other leagues, clubs or federations. We’re not giving lessons and we’re not going to allow anyone to give us lessons. Every year it’s the same. We’re going to continue building our project”. As expected, Al Khelaifi justified PSG’s actions by saying that everything they did is legal.
Lastly, he spoke of the team’s next project which, with Leonardo’s departure, seems to be looking for a new direction. The President did not confirm the dismissal of Pochettino, although he admitted that he likes Zidane. We’ll see if the Frenchman finally ends up in the Parc des Princes, despite the poor relationship that Real Madrid has with that team.
