The terrorist Houthi militia uses the drug trade as a source of funding for its war against the Yemenis, and as a weapon to lure Yemeni youth to fight in its ranks, as well as achieving wealth for its leaders by turning Yemen into a regional station for smuggling drugs and other contraband.
A few days ago, the Yemeni army seized a 320-kilogram shipment of drugs in Ma’rib governorate, which was on its way to the Houthi militia in Sana’a, and it is the third shipment to be seized in less than 10 days.
According to the Yemeni news agency “Saba”, the terrorist militias expanded drug smuggling activities through the sea and land outlets during the UN armistice that lasted from April 2 to October 2.
Yemeni researcher and political analyst Dr. Hamza Al-Kamali told Al-Ittihad that the Houthi militia is running a network for smuggling drugs, weapons and counterfeit medicines across the sea and land borders.
The Yemeni Network for Rights and Freedoms revealed, in a report last November, that the militias had built 93 drug depots in Sana’a, with 4 prominent Houthi leaders behind them involved in the drug trade, which turned Yemen into a popular market for all kinds of drugs.
The network emphasized that the drug trade is the most prominent reason for the outrageous and rapid wealth of the Houthi leadership, which reaps huge revenues amounting to about $6 billion annually.
The Yemeni political analyst said: The Houthis follow the same financial and economic approach as the terrorist “Hezbollah” militia, which is famous for its drug trade, and it is exporting huge quantities of it to the Houthis to promote it in Yemen.
The coup group used to use hallucinogenic pills to anesthetize its fighters so that they could continue fighting for long periods without realizing it.
On November 10, the Yemeni security authorities announced the seizure of a Houthi drug ship off the coast of Socotra Island, and several months before that, they seized another ship that was disembarking narcotics on the coast of the “Hawf” district.
The Yemeni political analyst, Mahmoud Al-Taher, confirmed to Al-Ittihad that the Houthi militia is practicing a systematic scheme to cloud the minds of young people by smuggling huge quantities of drugs that have become widespread in schools, universities, clubs and cafes.
Al-Taher said: Over the past eight years, the militias have sought to instill their sectarian and terrorist ideas in the hearts of young men and women, but they found it very difficult to do so as a result of awareness of their reality, so they resorted to drug trafficking to achieve their sectarian goals, in addition to using their revenues to finance terrorist operations and achieve wealth. Outrageous for the leaders of the group.
The political analyst revealed that the Houthis provided drug users on the condition that they fight in the ranks of the coup group, and many families complained about the disappearance of their drug-addicted children, and discovered that many of them were killed in the war, as they were fighting for the putschists.
