The Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club honored the first winners in the first round of the Abu Dhabi Grand Championship for Kingfish Hunting, in a ceremony held by the club yesterday evening, at the Marine Club headquarters on the breakwater in Abu Dhabi.
Ahmed Thani Al Rumaithi, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of the club, honored the top performers in the competition, in the presence of the members of the organizing committee of the championship, the Nawakhatha and the sailors. The contestant Mohammed Abdullah Al Hammadi from the Barq team won the first place, where he managed to catch a fish weighing 55.92 kilograms. The contestant Mohammed Saeed Al Mansouri from the Al Dhafra team came in second with a weight of 39.74 kilograms, while Abdullah Muhammad Al Mansouri from the Al Dhafra team also came in third with a weight of 32.74 kilograms.
The four-day tournament witnessed great success with the large participation of 300 boats distributed on various beaches of the country, so that the harvest was huge in the presence of a large audience.
The weight achieved by Muhammad Al-Hammadi is the highest in recent seasons, as the heaviest fish has never exceeded this weight in all tournaments for kingfish, and it has been officially registered since 2018 until now.
Ahmed Thani Al-Rumaithi confirmed that this tour recorded a remarkable success before it started, especially with the great demand for participation and the registration of a new number in the category of kunaad at the state level. He has never been registered in any official competition for kingfish.
Al Rumaithi congratulated the winner Mohammed Al Hammadi, noting the importance of the tournament as it represents an important part of the marine folklore in the Emirates, and presents a distinctive color of ancient fishing in the framework of the competition that is directed towards the community of sailors, sailors and youth in the Emirates, expressing his happiness with the great success that has been achieved and the testimony of everyone Noting that everyone is waiting for the second round of the tournament, which will be next November.
