The General Assembly of the Volleyball Federation elected Abdullah Al Darmaki, the candidate of Al Ain Club for the presidency of the federation in the new electoral cycle 2020-2024, after he won 10 votes against 7 for his rival Ahmed Al-Mutawa, the candidate of Al Nasr Club, during the electoral general work that was held at the Marriott Hotel Al Jaddaf in Dubai.
Al Darmaki, who holds the position of Vice President of Al Ain Group Games, became the fourth president in the history of the Volleyball Federation by election, starting from the 2005-2008 cycle, which witnessed Muhammad Abdul Karim Julfar winning the presidency as the first president of the federation by election, and Julfar returned to win by acclamation at the beginning of the next session 2008-2012 , before being succeeded by Amer Ali in the same cycle starting from February 2010, and Youssef Al Mulla in two consecutive cycles 2012-2016 and 1016-2020.
The work of the electoral general began, by calling for the attendance of the members of the general assembly, which witnessed a full quorum in the presence of representatives of 17 member clubs who are entitled to vote and vote. These clubs include Al-Jazira, Bani Yas, Al-Wehda, Al-Ain, Al-Wasl, Al-Nasr, Shabab Al-Ahly, Hatta, Ajman, Rams, Khorfakkan. Al Dhaid, Maliha, Al Madam, Al Bataeh, Kalba Union, and the Sharjah Women’s Sports Foundation.
During the meeting, the official letter of apology was presented to Sheikha Shamsa bint Hasher Al Maktoum, the candidate of Al-Wasl Club, for not continuing the electoral race due to special circumstances, so that the electoral race for the presidential seat was limited to the candidates Dr. For team games and Al Ain Club candidate.
During the general assembly, 10 members were declared the winner by acclamation, and the list of winners includes Osama Gargash (Al-Wehda), Jamal Al-Matrooshi (Ajman), Abdulaziz Al-Salman (Hatta), Abdullah Al-Duhail (Al-Ahly Youth), Awad Al-Mansoori (Bani Yas), Dr. Basem Al-Naqbi (Khorfakkan). ), Ali Salem Al-Manea (Al-Jazeera), Ali bin Tamim (Kalba Federation), in addition to Mansour Al-Ketbi, candidate for Maliha Club in the “Youth Seat”, and Nora Muhammad Al-Hamar, candidate for the Sharjah Foundation for Women’s Sports in the “Women’s Seat”.
