The Chairman of the Transitional Sovereign Council, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant-General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, congratulated the Sudanese people on the sixty-sixth anniversary of the glorious independence, expressing his hope that this anniversary would return while the country enjoys freedom, peace and justice.
In his speech to the Sudanese nation, on the occasion of this anniversary, Al-Burhan called on everyone to show wisdom and raise the value of the homeland and belonging to it above all affiliations, stressing that homelands are built with the help of their sons.
Al-Burhan said, “We reiterate our emphasis on protecting the country from slipping into chaos and devastation. We will preserve the transitional period and its success, complete its tasks, and continue the peace process.”
In his speech, he added, “Building the modern Sudanese state will only come with national consensus and compromise, and the rejection of division and dispersal. There are crises surrounding the country, which are existential threats that can only be overlooked or confronted with full awareness.”
He said, “Dispute over authority and being singled out for it, and the consequent loss of lives and property damage, necessitate arbitration of the voice of reason.”
He added, “Serious dialogue is open to all, and the only way to rule is through the popular mandate through elections.”
