Al-Burhan stated in a statement issued by the Transitional Sovereignty Council Media: “We have documented videos proving the involvement of the person called Youssef Ezzat and his attempt to record 8 statements for radio and 5 statements for television, to announce the seizure of power, and soon it will be owned by public opinion.”
Al-Burhan was referring to Youssef Ezzat, advisor to the Commander of the Rapid Support Forces, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti).
The Army Commander stressed that “the response to the militia’s crimes against the martyrs of Wad Noura will be harsh,” commenting on the accusations directed at the Rapid Support Forces of killing dozens in the village of Al-Jazeera State, on Wednesday.
He continued: “We will fight the terrorist Rapid Support militia to the end, even if the last soldier remains in the armed forces.”
On Thursday, the Rapid Support Forces denied that they had targeted any civilians in the village of Wad Al-Noura.
The spokesman for the Rapid Support Forces, Al-Fatih Qurashi, said in a video recording, “The matter is related to a battle that took place on the outskirts of the town of Wad Al-Noura between members of the Rapid Support Forces, the Sudanese Armed Forces, General Intelligence, and a battalion of the remnants of the National Congress.”
He added, “What was reported about the killing of dozens of civilian residents of the town and the robbing of their property is nothing but a slander made by elements of the old regime.”
The attack is the latest in a series of dozens of attacks launched by the Rapid Support Forces on small villages across the agricultural state of Al-Jazira, after they took control of its capital, Wad Madani, in December.
