Howaida Al-Hassan (Al-Ain)
Under the directives of the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan Foundations, Sheikha Dr. Shamma bint Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan, the Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan Cultural Center organized a cultural event in cooperation with Al Ain Oasis and the House of Mohammed bin Khalifa, within the “Zayed’s Legacy” project, Under the slogan “Al Ain: Treasures of Civilization,” which targeted participants in the International Education Conference, which was organized by Abu Dhabi University in the city of Al Ain.
Hosting this delegation comes within the framework of the cooperation agreement between the Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan Foundations and Abu Dhabi University.
The tour began with a visit to the heritage oasis of Al Ain, which includes multiple types of palm trees, along with fruit trees, which is considered one of the oldest oases in the United Arab Emirates, and which is famous for the traditional falaj system that dates back thousands of years, and is used to distribute water to irrigate fields.
The Al Ain Oasis administration received the delegation, as part of an introductory tour accompanied by those responsible for the oasis, who explained its ancient history and the traditional agricultural methods used there. The delegation also visited the environmental center, which provides information about the natural environment in the region and the importance of preserving it.
After that, the delegation went to visit the House of Mohammed bin Khalifa, which is a prominent historical landmark in the city of Al Ain, reflecting part of the cultural and architectural heritage of the city with its ancient history.
The management of the Mohammed bin Khalifa House welcomed the delegation, while the guide accompanied them on an introductory tour of the various parts of the house, and they learned about traditional Emirati life practices.
The tour concluded with a workshop presented by the Coffee and Sana School team from the Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan Cultural Centre, where the delegation learned about the rituals of preparing Arabic coffee and Emirati Sana, which reflects the values of hospitality and generosity rooted in Emirati society, which included serving Arabic coffee, dates, and popular Emirati dishes.
