The Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi and the Ministry of Education launched a new educational resource on “Al Ain’s cultural sites on the UNESCO World Heritage List” within the educational curricula, to be a new qualitative addition in supporting the content of curricula and educational courses in social studies and national education for the eleventh grade in all Public schools and private schools that implement the curricula of the Ministry of Education.
The Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi issued the book in both Arabic and English, to promote Al Ain’s cultural sites, especially after its inclusion as the first Emirati site on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The publication seeks to enhance students’ awareness of the importance of Al Ain’s cultural sites as part of a common global and human heritage, in addition to the role that our students and all members of society can play in preserving them for the future.
This publication, prepared by the Department of Culture and Tourism – under the supervision of a group of experts and specialists in the field of education, culture and history – which depends in its educational programs on the integrative approach and interactive multidisciplinary media, and is based on strategies of self-learning and group learning, for the teacher to use in directing the educational process of students and achieving goals The various educational fields in the cognitive, skill and behavioral fields related to cultural education.
His Excellency Hussain Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education, said: “This book, issued by the Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi, constitutes an important educational and historical tributary, shedding light on the cultural sites of Al Ain listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, which dates back thousands of years, and provides rich material On the cultural heritage and historical environment of these sites, especially those representing the Bronze and Iron Ages, such as: Jebel Hafeet burials, Hili settlements and burials, Bida Bint Saud burials, and the historical aflaj and oases.
His Excellency stressed that “the content of this book, which was in line with the vision and philosophy of the Ministry of Education and the standards of the subject of social studies and national education, would provide students with new knowledge, experiences and skills, in addition to strengthening their national identity and building their personalities through studying the past and drawing lessons and lessons and benefiting from them in Building the present and the future.
His Excellency Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi, said: “Educating future generations and enhancing their knowledge about the cultural heritage and the rich historical environment of our country is one of the most important responsibilities of the Department of Culture and Tourism, and that education is an essential pillar in preserving our civilizational history and cultural heritage, which It contributes to instilling feelings of loyalty and belonging, strengthening national identity, and the values of good citizenship in the hearts of students, to make it an integral part of their daily behavior and culture, and this is the real wealth of our country.”
Al Mubarak added: “This integrated educational package uses a simplified educational methodology that meets the requirements of modern methods of education that contribute to improving educational outcomes in line with global developments in educational fields.
The publication of the book is another milestone in our journey to integrate cultural heritage into the educational curricula system for state public schools in an innovative and modern way. This addition to the curriculum will not only ensure that students are aware of the cultural sites in Al Ain, but will reinforce their awareness of their great importance to our history and society, and will enhance their sense of individual responsibility towards them by making them aware of what they can do to play an active role in protecting these sites for future generations.”

The book “Al Ain Cultural Sites Listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List” supports the Ministry of Education’s plans to develop and update educational curricula, in line with the developments and developments of the times. Therefore, the Ministry has included this book as a study material for eleventh grade students, in all government schools and private schools that apply the curricula of the Ministry of Education.
The importance of the book lies in the fact that it contributes to the development of students’ skills in critical thinking, research, analysis, exploration, linking variables, and drawing inspiration from ideas, lessons and experiences that develop their inclinations, refine their abilities and build their personalities.
The book begins by presenting content related to the World Heritage sites in the Al Ain region, Jebel Hafeet, Hili, Bida Bint Saud, oases and aflaj, and includes an introduction and a preface, and four chapters, each containing a number of classroom lessons with educational objectives, explanations, and questions, accompanied by suggested activities for students. In addition to interactive videos, images and illustrations, enrichment streams, related “internet” links, a list of concepts and terms, and a list of sources and references that can be consulted by the teacher and student.
