Airbnb announced on Monday (28) that it is offering free short-term housing to 100,000 Ukrainians who had to flee the country with the Russian invasion.
The costs will be paid by the Refugee Fund of the company, which has existed since 2012. The platform also says that Ukrainians will be able to count on the help of hosts, who make their homes available to receive them in different parts of the world.

Airbnb co-founder and CEO Brian Chesky posted on social media a request for service users to welcome Ukrainians in Poland, Germany, Hungary and Romania, countries that receive the largest number of people fleeing the war.
The company also sent letters to work together with the countries bordering Ukraine and promises to “work collaboratively with governments to better meet the specific needs of each country, including providing long-term stays”.
To solve the problem of lack of internet access, Airbnb also seeks to develop partnerships with Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) from European countries to coordinate stays for “refugees regardless of nationality, race, ethnicity or how they identify themselves”.
It is estimated that, in total, more than 600,000 refugees have had to leave Ukraine in recent days. The European Union asks its member countries to guarantee temporary asylum of up to three years.
