Airbnb has just appointed Jaime Rodríguez de Santiago as the new General Director for Spain and Portugal of Airbnb Marketing Services.
The manager joins to continue promoting travel and accommodation on the platform that operates in 220 countries.
Rodríguez de Santiago will be in charge of highlighting the benefits that the platform’s activity generates in destinations, especially in less traditional ones and rural areas, explains the company.
In his role, Jaime will also “advocate for working with governments on balanced and proportionate regulationsthat promote responsible tourism and boost the economic well-being of both the hosts and the local communities,” they highlight.
The appointment of the director occurs at a key moment for the sector in Spain, since the current Government is preparing regulations to regulate tourist and seasonal rentals.
Jaime comes to the company with 15 years of experience in management, entrepreneurship and international operations in companies in the technology field. He started his career at Zhilabs, a big data company. Later, he founded 6cero, a citizen journalism platform, and later joined BlaBlaCar, where he was the top manager in Spain, Portugal and Germany. He later became general manager for Southern and Western Europe at FreeNow.
