Los Mochis, Sinaloa.- Despite the strategies that have been undertaken to prevent and eradicate violence against women, Ahome is among the five municipalities of Sinaloa with declaration of gender alert due to the high number of cases, confirmed Teresa Guerra Ochoa.
The owner of the Women’s Secretariat in the State Government during his visit to the city of Los Mochis recognized that this problem is still latent, with a rebound during these last two years of health contingency; however, he assured that what is sought at this time is to reduce this situation as much as possible and, therefore, give women greater peace of mind and security.
“There are 5 municipalities that have a gender alert: Culiacán, Mazatlán, Ahome, Guasave and Navolato. Of these five municipalities, we have confirmed that three have the Reaction Unit. In the case of Culiacán it did not have one, they integrated it after the meetings we had with the mayor, to whom the observation is made precisely that he is on gender alert and occupies this police force, this reaction unit is made up of 10 elements, in Guasave there are 14 elements commissioned specifically to attend to emergencies.”

Teresa Guerra Ochoa pointed out that once a woman files a complaint and asks for a protection order, the first thing that is done is to download an application so that once she activates it like a panic button, she can be attended to immediately, and for this they must have the Reaction Unit and the police themselves with the necessary training.
“We are trying to strengthen the actions in the Judiciary because in some way a complaint of sexual or family violence ends a file and we also have to have a gender perspective and responses. We are working at all levels and we are in some way in coordination with the Legislative Branch in case it is necessary to adjust some regulations, all with the objective that the governor has committed to, which is to have safe spaces and cities for women.”
In that sense, he indicated that family violence is one of the crimes that has increased the most in recent years, where, according to the comparisons made from 2018 to 2021, there was an increase in regard to investigation files, that is, say, about 45 percent.
