Ahome farmers ask that the GPO fertilizer plant not be postponed any longer

Los Mochis, Sinaloa.- Farmers from the producing area of ​​the Higuera de Zaragoza, in the municipality of Ahome, insisted on the urgency that the construction project of the Higuera de Zaragoza be completed once and for all. Topolobampo fertilizer plant.

Farmer Miguel Luque Miranda pointed out that this project should have already been completed, because no one is unaware of the exorbitant increases that the main fertilizers necessary for the development of agricultural activity suffered this year.

To cite an example, he announced that during the current autumn-winter 2021-2022 agricultural season, anhydrous ammonia, the main source of nitrogen for agriculture, reached a price close to 30 thousand per ton, while urea, second source of nitrogen in the field, was quoted at almost 21 thousand per ton.

He pointed out that although they are aware that this input depends on the prices that appear in the international market, the high freight costs that currently exist, because they have to import from very distant countries in the world, affect the final price with which the The input is distributed by the producer, so it is logically understood that by having local production, farmers would obtain a much cheaper input because freight costs would be substantially lowered.

He indicated that the producer really urgently needs this plant to begin construction immediately so that it goes into operation in the shortest possible time, since in this way it would ensure that it receives an input in more competitive price conditions, apart from guaranteeing its sufficient supply. supply in times of greatest demand and that is very important for all producers.
