Strong growth of the private media sector
During the meeting, Malik Sultan Al Malik, Director General of the Dubai Development Authority and CEO of TECOM Group, and a member of the Dubai Media Council responsible for the file of promoting the city’s media economy, gave a presentation in which he shed light on the continuous growth of the private media sector in Dubai thanks to the emirate’s provision of Attractive and supportive elements for global media institutions and companies, as well as media competencies from around the region and the world, at a time when the private media sector is one of the main components of the media scene in Dubai in general.
During the presentation, Malik Al Malik explained that the private media sector continues to grow with the addition of more media companies that find Dubai the ideal partner for development and prosperity, pointing to the growth in the number of licensed media companies during the first half of this year by 30% compared to the same period last year, while This increase was accompanied by a parallel growth in the number of workers in the private media sector, which amounted to 10% compared to the same period last year.
The meeting reviewed a number of media projects to be implemented during the next phase within the framework of the strategic objectives set by the Dubai Media Council to strengthen the media work system in Dubai and confirm its effectiveness and desired positive impact, whether in terms of economic returns or at the level of message and content.
