Aga Khan is the title of the magnet (Muslim leader) of the Nizari Ismaelites and was first granted in 1818 to Hasan Ali Shah, the Aga Khan I. The last bearer of the title is grandson of his predecessor, Mohamed Shah, and passed his Childhood in Kenya. He was enthroned as the 49th magnet of the Ismaelitas in 1957 in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. His father was excluded from the succession after his tumultuous marriage to the American actress Rita Hayworth.
