Experts believe that choosing the “New City of El Alamein” to host the summit’s work “presented a glimmer of hope for the city, and gave a strong Arab impetus to the investments obtained on its lands, which will turn it into a model for successful Arab cooperation.”
Former Egyptian Assistant Foreign Minister, Ambassador Mohamed Hegazy, said in an interview with “Sky News Arabia”: “The new city of El Alamein, on whose territory the historic battle of El Alamein took place, has a special symbolism, especially as it was one of the sites of World War II, which was planted with millions of mines.” Over the course of decades, it turned into a hotbed of mines.

Hegazy adds: “This reality has changed by the will of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and the Egyptian armed forces, as the city of El Alamein has been completely cleared of mines, and this area adjacent to the Mediterranean has been prepared to be a destination for Arab and foreign investments.”
He also points out that “selecting it to receive the work of the five-year summit is an embodiment of the transformation of the city of El Alamein from a land of mines to a land for investments.”
city future
And he continues, “It is not possible to hide the symbolism that the new city of El Alamein, which was designed according to international standards and includes centers for international business and trade, residential towers and luxury tourist resorts, is being revived with Arab investment.”
He continues: “It will be an episode within an integrated vision towards the localization of industries and investment in the Arab region, and will serve as a criterion for benefiting from the gains achieved by joint Arab action.”
glimmer of hope
For his part, international investment advisor Yousry Al-Sharqawi told Sky News Arabia, “This summit, which brought together the leaders of the UAE, Egypt, Jordan, Iraq and Bahrain, is an economic glimmer of hope.”
He added, “When the leaders of the Arab world see what is happening in the new Alamein area in terms of economic and tourism projects, this is a kind of good marketing to establish such investments that benefit the Arab region as a whole.”
economic goals
According to Al-Sharqawi, who is also the head of the Egyptian-African Businessmen Association, “the economic goals were at the top of the priorities of the El Alamein Summit, at a time when the world is witnessing inflationary waves and very difficult economic conditions.”
In this regard, he refers to “Egypt’s role in trying to implement the linkage in the fields of industry, production and energy between a number of countries participating in the summit.”
He also points out that “the UAE and Bahrain have large investments in Egypt, and there is a tendency to further expand them, especially since investors are always looking for political stability and large markets, and heading to the African continent.”
He concludes his speech to “Sky News Arabia”, by saying: “All these elements are available in Egypt.”
