The PSUV vice president and deputy, Diosdado Cabello, reported this Monday that will “review” the nominations of at least seven states of Venezuela, by not complying with the parameters of the primary elections that were held on Sunday for the regional and municipal elections next November.
Cabello explained at a press conference that the candidates had to get 50% of the votes, at least, and a difference of 10 points compared to second place, established in the internal regulations of the party.
“(The) 50% is not easy to remove in an election where you have 20 candidates, so the political command decided that the governors should not remove a minimum of 50%, if not 40%. It is a scale that we have established and it must also guarantee that it has more than 10 points of advantage over second place, “he said.

This condition was also modified for the candidacies to the Venezuelan mayoralties, where the candidates must obtain 35% of the votes and also the difference of 10%.
“We want consolidate unitary candidaciesThat they are strengthened, that the conditions that existed in the campaign benefit the revolutionary unity above all, that there are no irreconcilable positions and that one group goes one way and another group goes the other way and here comes the review “he added.
Cabello announced that the “revision” will be made in the candidacies for governor in Apure, Aragua, Bolívar, Cojedes, Monagas, Nueva Esparta and Trujillo, because they did not comply with either of the two postulates.
“Going to review does not mean that you eliminate one or the other; we evaluate the electoral conditions, the electoral alliances with the Great Patriotic Pole (GPP) and we make the decisions. We have until August 29 for the registration of candidates, “he explained.
Other criteria will be “political reality” of the states and municipalities, such as the “strength” of an opposition candidate against Chavismo, if any candidate for the GPP “surpasses” the PSUV candidate or if there are complaints about alleged irregularities or arbitrariness “and they are demonstrated with evidence, we make the decision. “
“We evaluated the behavior of our candidates, we saw weaknesses and that was registered. We are still receiving complaints from people who thinks she owns everything and runs over others. They have everything except revolutionary behavior, “he said.
On Sunday, the PSUV held its primary elections to choose the candidates for the governorships and mayors who will be voted on November 21.
Cabello celebrated the attendance at the primaries, open to militants and supporters of Chavismo without a PSUV card, which numbered 5.5 million people.
However, he assured that, due to the high participation, finally only 3.5 million people cast their vote, since many, when seeing the rows, said “no, I am not going to vote”.
