After the favorable opinion to President Alberto Fernández that the INADI (National Institute against Discrimination, Xenophobia and Racism) issued this Wednesday, social networks were flooded with memes with irony, suspicion and acidity before the complacent resolution and unusual argumentation of the head of the agency, Victoria Donda.
The official concluded, in a six-page document, that Alberto Fernández did not incur the crime of discrimination saying that “Mexicans come from the Indians and Brazilians from the jungle.”
For that phrase, Fernández was branded “racist” by Brazilian media and also received criticism from organizations of native peoples for its reference to the arrival of the Argentines in “the boats.”
The networks were unforgiving with Donda and his considerations. They reminded him of the court case initiated by his former maid and his survival in office – with a presidential endorsement – despite the scandal.
The now famous presidential phrase led to complaints against him for racism and strong criticism from the national and international political arc, to the point that his Brazilian counterpart, Jair Bolsonaro, responded to him on Twitter with a photo of himself with indigenous people with the word “jungle” accompanying the image.
According to the document issued by the entity in charge of Donda, the sayings “do not reflect government actions of Fernández, who, far from promoting discrimination and the invisibility of indigenous peoples, intensely promoted the equality of historically vulnerable groups ”.
Donda cited Domingo Faustino Sarmiento, gave the example of Evo Morales’ asylum in Argentina as proof that the President does not discriminate and took advantage of his opinion on Fernández to criticize Mauricio Macri.
“One of the founding myths on which Argentine history is based is that Argentines are mainly European immigrants, white and enlightened, “wrote Donda, making his historical review in his defense to Alberto F.
And he considered that as Fernández “he apologized to those who felt offended,” for INADI “it is not appropriate to issue a call for reflection some as long as it has already been done. “
“The President has reflected on the subject, “Donda insisted in another paragraph of his opinion to avoid qualifying the phrase under discussion with some hint of discriminatory reference.
Victoria Donda was ratified in her position by the President after accusations of irregularities in the working conditions of a former domestic employee of hers, who claimed to have worked in black for the official and received an offer to work at INADI as compensation for her dismissal.
Little time passed from the issuance of the opinion until the social networks were flooded with memes towards INADI and its owner as the main targets of humorous darts and harsh criticism.

Several users complained -with irony- for the closure of the institute, criticized the management of the former deputy and even linked the Copa América, which takes place in Brazil, with the controversial opinion.
