Officials in the Egyptian Ministry of Health are facing corruption charges in connection with this case.
The Public Prosecutor in Egypt had earlier ordered the referral of four defendants to criminal trial.
The first accused is accused of attempting to obtain a bribe of 5 million pounds, about 600,000 pounds for his personal account, from the owners of a private hospital through the mediation of two others, who are also being tried in the case.
On the other hand, the accused works to use his influence to obtain decisions from officials at the Ministry of Health that obstruct the implementation of the decision to close the hospital to its management without a license, and to prepare a forged report that proves that there are no violations in it, and the fourth accused has been charged with committing that forgery.
The Public Prosecution in Egypt based the case on the defendants, based on the statements of 13 witnesses, including the owners of the hospital, who informed the Administrative Control Authority of the bribery incident upon its request, and the bribe-taker with the permission of the Public Prosecution until his arrest was completed.
The two defendants, who mediated the bribery, also confessed, and their phones were examined and the correspondence proven in them confirmed the commission of the incident.
As well as informing the Public Prosecution of all hospital inspection reports, both correct and falsified, and reviewing bank documents proving the fact that the bribery amount was submitted, in addition to what is supported by the Public Prosecution’s witnessing and listening to the interviews and conversations that authorized its registration.
And the Egyptian Minister of Health, Hala Zayed, was admitted to the hospital in late October as a result of a health crisis, in conjunction with the Public Prosecution’s announcement of an investigation with officials in the Ministry of Health on unnamed accusations, after many news circulated about the control of the administrative control, a case of major bribery and corruption in the ministry. .
The Minister of Higher Education, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, is responsible for running the ministry’s work so far.
