The all-clear for the Ludwigsburg district: not a cobra, but a very large grass snake had unsettled walkers on Saturday and triggered a police operation.

On Monday, the barriers to the affected area would be removed again, citizens could move freely again. Albrich emphasized that a dangerous situation had to be assumed on Saturday and was very relieved after the conference.

Ludwigsburg – In the Ludwigsburg district, walkers spotted a potentially highly dangerous snake on Saturday. The police assumed on Saturday that it could be a “non-domestic venomous snake”. According to the SWR, reptile experts had come to the conclusion after initial assessments that the reptile could have been a cobra. The animal was discovered in the Sachsenheimer Kirchbachtal, between the villages of Ochsenbach and Kirbachhof.
A breeder’s runaway animal? An abandoned pet snake? Or is it a native wild animal? On Saturday evening, the police and fire brigade were looking for the animal with drones. But the search had to be aborted unsuccessfully. The Katwarn warning system and the police call on passers-by to dial the emergency number immediately if the animal is seen. In no case should one approach the snake.
In Moosburg, the police are also faced with a riddle: Here an abandoned kangaroo was hopping through the town.
Cobra sighting near Ludwigsburg? That is what makes the snake so dangerous
Cobras belong to poisonous snakes. Their most noticeable feature is the expandable neck shield, which, however, is only set up in the threatening position. They eat small mammals, birds or reptiles. If you feel attacked, straighten up and jerk your neck back and forth. Their bite is fatal to the victims. Respiratory paralysis and death can also occur in humans if no antidote is administered.
The animal welfare organization PETA lists several cases of sightings of poisonous snakes in Germany. Especially in the summer months, when the cold-blooded animals become more active, there could be more outbreaks from terrariums.
Cobras are native to large parts of Asia and Africa.
