Al-Saeed explained that he took this decision before the launch of the last edition of the “African Nations”, which was held in Cameroon, indicating that he had hoped to end his international career by achieving a continental title with the Egyptian team.
He added, “Praise be to God, I was honored to wear the Egyptian shirt and represent my country for many years. I thank all the technical and administrative bodies and the players that I had the honor to work with at all stages.”
And he continued, “In the end, all the best to my brothers, the players and the technical staff. The coming period is important, and God willing, we qualify for the World Cup.”
In the following lines, the “Sky News Arabia” website monitors what Al-Saeed did with the Egyptian national team.
Abdullah Al-Saeed appeared for the first time in the national team shirt, in 2008, under the leadership of Captain Hassan Shehata, against Malawi in the World Cup qualifiers, and the meeting ended with Malawi winning with a clean goal.
In general, Al-Saeed played 55 matches with the “Pharaohs”, during which he scored 6 goals and assisted 10.
He participated with the “Pharaohs” in the African Nations Championship during the 2017, 2019, and 2022 editions, in addition to the “Arab Cup” and the “World Cup”.
The confrontation of Sudan in the group stage in the 2022 African Nations Championship was the last match that Abdullah Al-Saeed played with the Egyptian team, during which he scored the goal of the “Pharaohs” victory, which was scored by young defender Mohamed Abdel Moneim.
