After Quirino Ordaz Coppel’s swearing-in, after his appointment as Mexican ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain was ratified, the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), political group with which he reached the governorship of Sinaloa (2017-2021), began the process to expel him from their ranks.
The procedure began for having protested as Mexico’s ambassador to Spain and being part of a government that does not correspond to his partisan militancy.
The National Justice Commission in favor of the PRI received the complaint on March 8 and the summons was carried out ccorresponding to Ordaz Coppel, complying with all the requirements of the Partisan Justice Code.

You have 15 days to answer the complaint, a deadline that expires on March 24.
Likewise, he was notified of the hearing of evidence and arguments, which will take place on March 25 at 12:00 noon before the PRI’s National Executive Committee.
Interviewed in this regard by ELDEBATE, PRI senator Mario Zamora Gastélum, who cast his vote against the opinion for the Embassy of the former governor of Sinaloa, said that the National Political Council of the PRI, which is the supreme body of the tricolor, decided to remove his militancy from the moment he protested in the position for which he was proposed by the Morenista government of Andrés Manuel López Obrador
“When today’s ambassador took his request to that council, there were votes for and against, and the Council decided that, if he accepted this position, he would be losing his status as a militant. A few days ago, the president of the party, Alejandro Moreno, also made it known.”

Likewise, Zamora Gastélum expressed his best wishes to Ordaz Coppel, whom he wished him to do well as ambassador.
“There was no doubt that he would count on the voteshowever, I am part of a political party that is the PRI, of an alliance that was PRI, PAN and PRD, where we have certain rules and guidelines, and on this occasion it was decided to discuss it in the group prior to the vote and it was made the decision to vote in the negative,” he explained.
He explained that the negative vote was given in the spirit of power rebuild a serious opposition PRIclose to the people and a real counterweight to a government that every time, he said, centralizes bad decisions.

Senate ratifies Ordaz Coppel as ambassador
With 74 votes in favor, 20 against and 12 abstentions, the plenary session of the Senate of the Republic ratified the appointment of Quirino Ordaz Coppel as ambassador of Mexico to the Kingdom of Spain.
With electronic suffrage in a system that remained open for just over three minutes, the senators cast their vote for the opinion with which the former governor of Sinaloa was appointed as extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Mexico in the Kingdom of Spain and, concurrently, subject to receipt of the corresponding approval, before the Principality of Andorra, as well as permanent representative of Mexico before the World Tourism Organization, based in Madrid, Spain.
On the platform that was announced at the end of the count, the vote of the senator from Sinaloa, Mario Zamora Gastélum, against the opinionas well as Senator Imelda Castro Castro in favor of it.
It should be noted that no senator from Sinaloa made use of his voice on the platform, despite the fact that there were demonstrations in favor of the Morenoite group and against some PRI, PAN members and the plural group.

Minutes after the vote, the Sinaloan businessman swore as ambassador before the full Senate and received the certificate of office from the president of the Senate Board of Directors, Olga Sánchez Cordero.
