On the morning of this Tuesday (1st) a work on line 9-orange of the São Paulo Metro collapsed, interdicting the Marginal Tietê, in the north of São Paulo, towards the Ayrton Senna highway. This afternoon, the crater formed by the collapse gave way again, compromising almost the entire local runway.
The Municipal Secretary of Mobility and Transport, Ricardo Teixeira, said in an interview with Globo that the population should avoid the road. “There is no emergency plan for half a million cars. Drivers traveling through the city must avoid the region,” he adds.

The accident is causing traffic on several highways and avenues of the capital throughout the day. He also asked that the road be used, preferably, only by those who live or work in the surroundings.
According to Captain André Elias, spokesman for the Fire Department, 50 people were working on the work at the time of the accident, but all managed to leave the tunnel before it flooded. Two of them, however, had contact with dirty water.
