A court document released on Wednesday said Hernandez, 25,’s appeal to a Madrid criminal court against a previous suspended prison sentence for defying the court’s ruling had been rejected.
The document added that the appeal was rejected because Hernandez had two previous criminal sentences, both related to the incident that occurred in February 2017.
He was ordered to appear in court in Madrid on October 19, and has ten days to voluntarily enter prison.
The French international was sentenced to 31 days of community service for assaulting his then-girlfriend and his current wife in February 2017, when he was a player for Atletico Madrid.
The court issued a decision banning him from being within 500 meters of his girlfriend.
Hernandez was arrested in June 2017 after violating the court’s decision after arriving in Madrid with his wife after their marriage and honeymoon.
Hernandez made his debut for Atletico in 2014, before joining Bayern Munich in 2019 for 80 million euros.
Hernandez participated in 29 matches with the French national team, and won the 2018 World Cup with the team, and lifted the European Nations League Cup 2021 last Sunday.
